Kinds of hosting solutions

A hosting solution applies to hoarding and/or sharing given web content on a hosting server handled by a website hosting company. There are various groups of hosting services utilized for different goals, so let's review them. In that way, you can choose what you need, based on whether you desire to have a website, email accounts, or to share files with chums and colleagues.

- File hosting: a solution supplied by certain companies, which permits you to share huge files. These could be disk images, motion pictures, audio files, archived documents, and so on. This solution is also known as file storage, and its only function is to share files, since it does not support web page uploading. The moment the files are uploaded, you will either get a randomly generated download link for each of them, or you will be able to see a record of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to see .html or .php web page files in your web browser. Free-of-cost file storage accounts are frequently supported by exhibiting advertisements next to the download links, while a timer compels you to wait for a certain spell of time to view them. A given file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you run a paid file hosting plan, there are no limits as to how many files you can upload/download instantly, and also there is no limitation as far as the download speed and the file size are concerned.

Now, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting corporations, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more trendy "cloud hosting". This is a totally imprecise interpretation of the literal denotation of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting platform would divide the workload between autonomous sets of web servers in a cluster, which are committed to attending miscellaneous webspace hosting services (email, web space, statistics, DNS, databases, website hosting CP, etc.) So, the file hosting service is merely a brand of a disk space hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: similar to file hosting; specific corporations provide a hosting service for pictures only. This hosting type is good if you would like to share a large number of pics with pals or acquaintances since the solution is generally free of cost. You will receive a random link for each picture or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file storage solution, .html and .php files are not supported, so the solution cannot be used for web pages.

- Email hosting: a service devoted to tackling your e-mail address accounts. Some vendors provide web hosting solutions for web sites, but do not offer an email hosting service. If you desire to run an email address with your domain name but do not want to own a site, then the email hosting solution is what you want. You can open email address accounts and manage them, but there will be no web solution for the domains. The email hosting solution involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP email servers.

- Video hosting: this service permits you to upload and share video files. You can either share a link to a certain video file, or you can embed the video in your site that is hosted elsewhere. The advantage of using this approach instead of uploading the video clip in a web hosting account is that the video clip produces a certain amount of CPU load, so with a few video clips and a few hundred web page viewers, you may have difficulty with your website hosting supplies. Embedding the video will permit you to own as many videos as you desire without bothering about system supplies.

- Web hosting: this is the service that you need if you desire to keep a web site. To some degree, it embodies all of the aforementioned hosting varieties since, along with your websites, you can also host images and files, you can create databases and email addresses, upload videos, and so on. At Exclusive Hosting, for example, you can have a gaze at web hosting and dedicated web server hosting solutions that enable you to have all of the abovementioned solutions in one single location. There may be limits depending on the type of hosting solution that you've chosen - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your web page hosting package may be better or worse compared with the standard e-mail/file/video/image hosting packages that are designed for particular content only.
